L’Wren Scott, the fashion designer and former model who was Mick Jagger’s longtime girlfriend, was found dead of an apparent suicide on Monday morning. She was 47.
Scott’s assistant discovered her dead in her New York City apartment at 10 a.m., hanging from a doorknob by a scarf, reported the New York Daily News. The assistant had arrived at the 11th Ave apartment after receiving a text from Scott asking her to come over. Upon finding her body, the assistant dialed 911.
Police did not immediately uncover a suicide note, but do not believe that foul play was involved in Scott’s death. An official cause of death will be given by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Scott worked for years as a model in Paris, landing gigs with Chanel and Theirry Mugler before coming stateside to pursue a career as a stylist in the 90s. By 2006, Scott had established her own fashion brand, dressing the likes of Nicole Kidman, Sandra Bullock, Amy Adams, First Lady Michelle Obama, Angelina Jolie and more. She had also served as a costume designer for Ocean’s Thirteen and Eyes Wide Shut among others films.
Scott and Jagger met and began dating in 2001. Their last major public appearance together was in November at the launch of the Banana Republic L’Wren Scott Collection in Los Angeles (pictured above). Jagger is "completely shocked and devastated by the news," a rep for the Rolling Stones frontman told Us Weekly.
