Lupita Nyong’o returned to the Oscars on Sunday wearing a one-of-a-kind custom Calvin Klein Collection dress covered in pearls.

The gown, which was reportedly decorated with over 6,000 pearls, was designed by Francisco Costa and hand sewn specifically for Nyong’o. “From the onset, I wanted the dress to be graphic, yet warm and luxurious,” Costa said of the dress.

Despite the apparent heft of the beaded dress, Nyong’o told reporters on the red carpet that it was “actually quite comfortable.” Nyong’o walked the red carpet in her statement gown alongside brother Junior Nyong’o, who was her Oscar date when she took home the Academy Award for Best Support Actress last year.
