On January 26, tragedy struck when the former professional basketball player Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna were killed in a helicopter accident. Ever since his death, sports fans from around the world have mourned the loss of the widely loved basketball player. After Bryant’s birthday on August 23, several sports teams from Los Angeles took the time to honor the late Los Angeles Lakers basketball player on the next day.

Many sports fans have been referring August 24 as “Kobe Bryant Day” with several people paying tribute to the man. The Los Angeles Rams posted a photo on Instagram that featured two of Bryant’s jerseys, and thanking the former NBA player for “instilling the #MambaMentality in all of us on [and] off the field.”

The Los Angeles Kings then posted a picture that featured two hockey helmets with the numbers 8 and 24, which were Bryant’s numbers during his career as an athlete. The helmets also featured a gold heart with the words “Gigi” written in as a tribute to Bryant’s daughter Gianna, who tragically died alongside her father in the helicopter crash.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers will wear uniforms that were designed by Bryant himself along with the Nike company during their upcoming game against the Portland Trailblazers. The clothing that the players will wear will be called “Black Mamba Uniforms“ in honor of the player’s famous nickname “The Black Mamba.” Bryant’s wife Vanessa showcased her support for the decision to wear these uniforms on her Instagram while also paying tribute to her late daughter.
