Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin have apologized to fans after Hamlin donned a swastika t-shirt on Halloween while dressing up as Sid Vicious.
In a joint statement on Instagram, Rinna and Hamlin said that they were sorry for causing offense with their “Sid and Nancy” Halloween costumes.
“If I hurt you ❤️ we were being authentic to the characters of Sid and Nancy for our Halloween costumes,” reads the statement on Rinna’s Instagram page. “It hurt and angered many of you and we are deeply sorry for that. That was never our intention. We did not mean to offend. With love, Lisa and Harry.”
Hamlin and Rinna showed up at George Clooney‘s Casamigos Halloween party in Beverly Hills, Calif., over the weekend dressed up as the late Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious, and his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen, who he murdered in 1979. While Rinna’s take on Spungen was harmless enough, the iconography on Hamlin’s shirt sparked outrage.
Following the bash on Saturday, Hamlin and Rinna made a public show of solidarity on Sunday walking hand-in-hand in LA. For the day out, Hamlin had ditched his replica of Vicious’s infamous red swastika shirt in favor of one bearing a peace sign.
