Lindsay Lohan was spotted sporting a burkini before she went paddleboarding last week in Phuket, Thailand. The 30-year-old actress was vacationing in the Southeast Asian country, and the modest attire was captured by a photographer.

Lindsay Lohan Spotted In Burkini In Thailand

The burkini is a portmanteau derived from the burqa and bikini. A burqa is a garment some Muslim women who are Islam wear to cover their body and face. The burkini was developed in 2004 by Austrlian designer Aheda Zanetti to allow Muslim women to maintain their modesty traditions in the water. Zanetti has said that many non-Muslim women have bought the design as well.

It’s still unclear why the Mean Girls actress donned the burkini, though judging from the photos, it might have been for a photo shoot.

Some have speculated that Lohan is on the road to converting to Islam. She was seen in 2015 carrying a Quran, and was also spotted wearing a headscarf at Heathrow airport in London.

On this vacation, however, the Freaky Friday star didn’t confine herself to only the burkini — she also posted photos of herself in more revealing attire.
