Lindsay Lohan Replaced In 'Inferno'

Lindsay Lohan's career is going up in flames. The troubled starlet was just let go from Linda Lovelace biopic Inferno, despite director Matthew Wilder's early assurances that they were sticking with Lohan even through rehab.

Lohan, 24, will be replaced by Swedish actress Malin Akerman, 32. "We stuck by her very patiently for a long time with a lot of love and support. The impossibility of insuring her and other issues have made it impossible for us to go forward," Wilder said of Lohan in a statement. "I really, devoutly wanted that to work out so badly, I really did," he said to the Los Angeles Times. "I hung in for a long time — longer than most people would, I think. My respect for Lindsay's talent is huge. But it ultimately was just not a doable thing."

Luckily, Wilder is fully on board with new star Akerman. "She really is the amazing heroine of this situation," he said of the Couples Retreat actress. "There are so many people out there who get some success doing a certain thing, looking a certain way, playing a certain kind of character, and they just want to polish that and stay in that forever," he said. "She is doing the 180-degree opposite." –AMY LEE
