Lindsay Lohan checked into the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Thursday night, the New York Daily News reports. But the actress nearly went to jail again for missing her court-ordered rehab assignment on Thursday morning when she didn’t check into Morningside Recovery in Newport Beach Fla. Authorities briefly did not know where Lohan was, putting her risk of violating her probation. Apparently Lohan almost flew back to New York City.

“The [prosecutor] called me to get in touch with Lindsay, who was headed to get on a flight to New York,” Lohan’s father, Michael, told the New York Daily News. “I stopped her from getting on and told her she’d be arrested in New York.

Amid the controversy, Lohan dropped attorney Mike Heller and hired her former lawyer, Shawn Holley, to mediate the desperate situation, who made arrangements for Lohan at the Betty Ford Center. But Lohan is not out of the woods just yet

“I have given tentative approval but a more intensive investigation will be undertaken to make sure it complies with all the probation condition requirements,” Santa Monica chief deputy attorney Terry White told the Los Angeles Times. .

Lohan has to serve 90 days in a rehabilitation facility, during which time she is not allowed to leave the premises. She is also required to pay a fine, serve 30 days of community service and receive 18 months of counseling.

Last month Lohan visited the Late Show with David Letterman, where in a candid interview she said going back to rehab is a "blessing" and "an opportunity for me to, you know, focus on what I love in life."
