Lindsay Lohan Clarifies Supportive Comments About Harvey Weinstein

Lindsay Lohan posted two stories to Instagram on Tuesday in which she admitted she felt bad for sexual harasser Harvey Weinstein.

The celeb also chastised Weinstein’s estranged wife Georgina Chapman for failing to stand by her man during this difficult time. Most of Hollywood, and the media, is against Weinstein after an exposé was published detailing decades’ worth of sexual harassment and rape allegations. “He’s never harmed me or did anything to me – we’ve done several movies together,” Lohan said. “I think everyone needs to stop – I think it’s wrong. So stand up.”

Lohan returned to the social media site to clarify her word, as many were outraged that she would stand up for Weinstein. Instead of going to the media, Lohan argued, victims should notify the proper authorities. “I am saddened to hear about the allegations against my former colleague Harvey Weinstein,” Lohan told the Daily Mail. “As someone who has lived their life in the public eye, I feel that allegations should always be made to the authorities and not played out in the media. I encourage all women who believe Harvey harmed them to report their experiences to the relevant authorities.”

Actresses Ashley Judd and Rose McGowan came forward in the New York Times piece last week, and many women followed suit, including Gwyneth PaltrowAngelina Jolie, and Cara Delevingne. Three additional women have come out saying that Weinstein raped them.

Weinstein has denied all allegations, but was still fired by The Weinstein Company board. “Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein,” said his rep. “Mr. Weinstein has further confirmed that there were never any acts of retaliation against any women for refusing his advances. Mr. Weinstein obviously can’t speak to anonymous allegations, but with respect to any women who have made allegations on the record, Mr. Weinstein believes that all of these relationships were consensual. Mr. Weinstein has begun counseling, has listened to the community and is pursuing a better path. Mr. Weinstein is hoping that, if he makes enough progress, he will be given a second chance.”
