'Lincoln,' 'Silver Linings Playbook' Lead Oscar Nominations
The Academy Award nominations were announced on Thursday morning with Lincoln leading the pack with 12 nominations.The Steven Spielberg-directed biopic about the 16th President of the United States received nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Actor in a Leading Role for Daniel Day-Lewis, 55, and Supporting Actor and Actress nominations for Tommy Lee-Jones, 66, and Sally Field, 66, respectively.
Going head-to-head for Best Picture will be Les Miserables with nine nominations. The movie musical scored a Best Actor nomination for Hugh Jackman, 44, and a Best Supporting Actress nomination for Anne Hathaway, 30. The film also received a nomination for Best Original Song for "Suddenly."
Nine-year-old Quvenzhané Wallis, is the youngest ever nominee for Best Actress, for her role in Beasts of the Southern Wild. Meanwhile, Robert DeNiro, 69, receives his sixth Oscar nomination for his role in Silver Linings Playbook. Co-stars Bradley Cooper, 38 and Jennifer Lawrence, 22, walked away with Best Actor and Actress nominations respectively.
The 85th Academy Awards, hosted by Seth MacFarlane, will air Feb. 24 on ABC. Read on for the full list:
