Lily James‘ waist in Cinderella has been a hot topic of speculation ever since the first promotional images for the live-action Disney picture were released – and the actress is tired of answering questions about her naturally small waist.

Lily James On Waist In ‘Cinderella’

James, 25, has once again refuted allegations that her waist was made smaller through CGI for Cinderella, explaining that the combination of her naturally small waist and the corset that was part of her costume yielded the result seen on screen.

“I naturally have a really small waist,” the actress told the Los Angeles Times. “The skirt’s big and the corset pulls me in, and that’s the point. That’s the shape [costume designer] Sandy Powell created.”

Talking about the media obsession with her waist, she added, “I think it’s all very hypocritical, and they contradict themselves, and they’re drawing more attention to it. I think all that stuff’s so negative, and you’ve got to let it wash over your head.”

“I’m so healthy. I’ve got hips and boobs and a bum and a small waist,” she continued.

Earlier on in her Cinderella promotional tour, James, who also stars on Downton Abbey, explained that she had to go on something of a liquid diet while filming in the constricting corset.

“When [the corset] was on we would be on continuous days so we wouldn’t stop for lunch or a lovely tea like this—you’d be sort of eating on the move,” she told E! News. “In that case, I couldn’t untie the corset. So if you ate food it didn’t really digest properly and I’d be burping all afternoon in [Richard Madden]’s face, and it was just really sort of unpleasant. I’d have soup so that I could still eat but it wouldn’t get stuck.”

Cinderella, which also stars Game of Thrones actor Richard Madden and Kate Blanchett, hits theaters March 13.
