Lil Wayne surprised fans on Tuesday with the release of his latest mix tape, Sorry 4 The Wait 2.

Lil Wayne Drops Free Mixtape Sorry 4 The Wait 2

Lil Wayne fans have been eagerly waiting for the rapper to release new music since December, when the scheduled release of his next album, Tha Carter V, was pushed back unexpectedly. At the time, Lil Wayne took to Twitter to voice his frustrations with his label, Cash Money Records, and label head Birdman, saying he wanted to cut ties with the label entirely.

Now, over a month later, Lil Wayne has released a free mixtape, Sorry 4 The Wait 2, with Cash Money Records. Wayne teased the release of the mixtape on Twitter over the weekend, tweeting a short clip of his new song “Fingers Hurting” with the message “I’m so Sorry.”

“Sorry for the wait, the confusion, the disturbance,” Lil Wayne raps in the song.

The mixtape appeared online Tuesday night, on Jan. 20, and features 17 brand new tracks available for download. Sorry 4 The Wait 2 features collaborations with other Cash Money artists, including Nicki Minaj and Drake, as well as 2 Chainz, Shanell and Mack Maine.

The mixtape also features a “Drunk in Love” remix featuring Lil Wayne’s rumored new girlfriend, Christina Milian.

It’s still unclear what the mixtape means for Tha Carter V or Lil Wayne’s relationship with Cash Money, but Sorry 4 The Wait 2 should keep fans and critics distracted until the rapper announces his next move.
