Lil Nas X made his Met Gala debut and did not disappoint when he showed his intricate, three-part ensemble.

Nas first arrived on the carpet in an oversized, floor-length gold robe and a long train behind him. Looking like the king of the Gala, he then removed the robe with some help from his royal subjects to show his second outfit change underneath. He revealed a gold suit of armor that also matched his gold eyeliner and chain. The 22-year-old singer/rapper wasn’t done there. After removing the suit of armor, Nas revealed his final look, a fitted, black jumper covered in gold jewels. He was styled by Holo Musa.

The three-part outfit look was one of many intricate fashions seen at the exclusive gala – and the internet went wild.

Nas’ different looks are similar to Lady Gaga‘s Met Gala outfit. In 2019, Gaga revealed her costume changes on the carpet but had four parts instead of three.

Nas has been making fashion statements all week, starting from his VMA red carpet look Sunday night.

Nas arrived in a lilac, jewel-encrusted Aleiver Versace jumpsuit, showing off a bit of his chest. He also wore a wavy mullet wig to complete the look giving it a 1980s feel.

Last year, the pandemic caused the exclusive event to be canceled. This year’s event had stricter guidelines for guests to follow: they must be vaccinated and must wear a mask indoors unless they are eating. Rapper Nicki Minaj spoke out about not attending the gala due to the mandates. Other regular attendees like Sarah Jessica Parker, Zendaya and Lady Gaga were also missing from the event.

The theme of this year’s gala was “American Independence,” based on the museum’s exhibits, In America: A Lexicon of Fashion, opening September 18, and In America: An Anthropology of Fashion, opening May 25, 2022.
