Liev Schreiber Films ‘Across The River & Into The Trees’ In Venice

Liev Schreiber was spotted duck hunting for a scene on the set of the film adaptation of Ernest Hemingway’s last book, Across the River and Into the Trees in Venice Italy.

Schreiber is playing Colonel Richard Cantwell, a character based on Hemingway’s friend, Colonel Charles T. Lanham.

The film is set in post World War II Italy and follows Cantwell as he tries to escape news of an illness. He engages in a star-crossed romance with a younger woman.

Peter Flannery wrote the script and Paula Ortiz is directing the film. Matilda De Angelis, Josh Hutcherson, Italian actor Laura Morante, Spanish actor Javier Cámara and Italian actor Giancarlo Giannini are all in the cast.

Robert MacLean, John Smallcombe and Ken Gord are producing with William J. Immerman as executive producer.

Schreiber is known as the lead of the show Ray Donovan. He won a Tony for the 2005 production of Glengarry Glen Ross.
