Liam Payne took to Twitter on Tuesday to apologize to his fans for a picture his friend posted of him standing on the ledge of his high-rise London apartment.
"You may have seen a photo of me today taken on top of a building. I regret being there and having a photo taken," Payne, 20, tweeted. "It was a stupid and irresponsible thing to do. I am sorry, and do not endorse any fans trying to repeat this, as it is extremely dangerous."
The controversial snap of Payne was tweeted by his friend with the Twitter handle Wiltzy. Wiltzy, like Payne, offered an apology on the social media site. The friend’s apology had less to do about the dangerous situation Payne was photographed in, and more to do with posting the compromising shot of his famous friend.
Although the picture of Payne standing on a ledge outside his 34th-floor apartment has been deleted, an image of Payne and his friend Tom Queens remains. In the picture, Payne is a safe distance away from the glass perimeter, while Queens is leaning against it, looking out at the cityscape.
The pictures were taken after Payne and his pals attended fellow One Direction singer Zayn Malik’s 21st birthday.
