Liam Neeson has announced his retirement from Hollywood action flicks.
Neeson, known for starring in such films as Taken 1, 2, and 3, is ready to move on from the high-octane roles. “They’re still throwing serious money at me to do that stuff,” he explained to Sky News. “I’m like, ‘Guys, I’m sixty-f–king-five.’ Audiences are eventually going to go, ‘Come on.'”
Neeson has nearly a dozen action films under his belt, but the actor is ready for more serious roles, like the one he played in Martin Scorsese‘s Silence. He does have, however, two more films coming out soon. The first is Hard Powder, in which he plays a snowplow driver who faces off against drug dealers, and the other is The Commuter by James Collet-Serra.
His next film, which will open this week at the Toronto Film Festival, is a Watergate scandal drama called Mark Felt: The Man who Brought Down the White House. He plays the FBI officinal nicknamed Deep Throat. He is also lined up to star in Steve McQueen‘s next film Widows.
Funnily, in 2013 after Taken 2 came out, the actor said, “I don’t think there’ll be a Taken 3. She can’t get taken again!” But he was proved wrong, and the third installment in the franchise debuted in January 2015. His other action film credits include The Grey, Run All Night, Non-Stop, and A Walk Among the Tombstones.
