Hunger Games actor Liam Hemsworth has broken his silence regarding his engagement to Miley Cyrus.
Hemsworth says his very busy schedule revolving around the last Hunger Games installment to taking over Will Smith for Independence Day: Resurgence, the sequel to the 1996 cult classic, has limited his dating options recently. Hemworth’s former love Miley Cyrus, the once goody Disney girl turned sex symbol, remains in his heart though. “You fall in love with who you fall in love with; you can never choose. I guess some people just come with a little more baggage,” Hemsmworth says of Cyrus in a new interview with Men’s Fitness, “I mean, look – we were together five years, so I don’t think those feelings will ever change.”
The Australian actor and Cyrus met while shooting the movie The Last Song and instantly started dating back in June 2009. After three years of being in an on-and-off relationship, the couple eventually became engaged in 2012. The engagement was called off in 2013, which led to Cyrus cutting her hair off and create fashion statements to underline that she was a changed woman. “She’s a free spirit. I think she’ll always surprise people with what she does, but she’s not a malicious person in any way. She’s a young girl who wants to do what she wants to do,” Hemsworth says of Cyrus’ transition.
The last installment of the Hunger Games film series, Mockingjay, Part 2, will be released in theaters on Nov. 20.
