A new horror film from Blumhouse is already generating positive buzz off reactions to its title alone, which is extremely impressive in our current media-saturated landscape. They/Them, pronounced “They slash Them,” is being co-produced by Blumhouse and will be released on Peacock on August 5.
The film is the directorial debut of John Logan, a screenwriter whose credits include Gladiator, Skyfall and The Aviator. It stars Kevin Bacon as the owner of a “conversion camp” for LGBTQ teens, Anna Chlumksy as a new employee of the camp, and Carrie Preston as the camp’s therapist and wife of Bacon’s character Owen Whistler.

“As the camp’s methods become increasingly more psychologically unsettling, the campers must work together to protect themselves. When a mysterious killer starts claiming victims, things get even more dangerous,” the film’s summary read.
Logan told Bloody Disgusting that this idea “has been germinating within me my whole life. I’ve loved horror movies as long as I can remember, I think because monsters represented ‘the other’ and as a gay kid I felt a powerful sense of kinship with these characters who were different, outlawed, or forbidden.” He also added, “When people walk away from the movie, I hope they’re going to remember the incredible love that these kids have for each other and how that love needs to be protected and celebrated.”
Promo photos focus on the film’s main cast, which has big names like Bacon and Chlumsky as well as refreshing new actors to play the campers including Theo Germaine, Quel Tann, Austin Crute, Monique Kim, Anna Lore, Cooper Koch and Darwin Del Fabro. We know there is a mysterious killer involved in the goings-on, but we haven’t gotten a sneak peak on how they are going to look quite yet.
