Leonardo Dicaprio Embraces Kate Winslet After First Win For ‘Revenant’ At 2016 SAG Awards
At Saturday night’s award show, Leonardo DiCaprio won his first SAG award for his role in The Revenant. One of his first of many congratulations, was from his former Titanic co-star, Kate Winslet.
The two have been publicity praising the other this year for their accomplishments in film. DiCaprio has been winning awards for his role since the film debuted. Previously, the actor has been nominated nine times for various roles over the years but never took home a win until Saturday.
The actress is entirely in it for the win for DiCaprio this year. During an interview with E!’s Giuliana Rancic, she said that she’s more invested in DiCaprio’s nominations than her own. “I was shocked!” she said after winning the Globe for her supporting role in Steve Jobs. “To be honest with you, it was because I’ve been so focused on Leo and him winning everything and being so excited for him.” DiCaprio took home a Golden Globe earlier this month and is nominated for an Oscar at the upcoming award ceremony.
DiCaprio received a standing ovation as he made his way up to the stage to accept the award. In his speech, he thanked his parents and fellow actors for their continued support and guidance.
