Bobbi Kristina Brown‘s aunt Leolah Brown interrupted her funeral over the weekend to shout at her late niece’s other aunt Pat Houston.
At the Saint James United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, Ga., on Saturday, Leolah had an outburst when Pat started to speak at the private service for Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina. “Whitney is rolling over in her grave!” Leolah shouted, according to TMZ. “You are so wrong for this, Pat!”
After the confrontation, Leolah was escorted outside the church by security. Director and actor Tyler Perry, who was also in attendance at the funeral, left with Leolah in an attempt to diffuse the situation. Once outside the church, Leolah told the gathered press that she’d told Pat, Whitney Houston’s former sister-in-law, that Whitney’s ghost would haunt her.
Eventually, Leolah was permitted to reenter the church and joined the others in singing hymns during the service.
Since Bobbi Kristina was hospitalized on Jan. 31 of this year, tensions have run high between the Houston and Brown families. The latest grievance has to do with Pat Houston’s decision to ask those attending the funeral to give donations to her charity in lieu of flowers. Leolah believes that Pat is keeping the money for herself and asked people not to send “one red cent,” according to TMZ.
“[Pat’s] not the sweet quiet person that she’s tried so hard to make people believe she was,” Leolah said.
