NBA star LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, have denied the accusations made in a lawsuit over an alleged 2022 car crash.
On Oct. 22, 2024, April Almanza Lopez and Kiara Rae McGillen, two plaintiffs in Los Angeles County, filed a lawsuit against LeBron and Bronny.
They alleged they were driving on a highway on Nov. 13, 2022, in Littlerock, California, when the basketball players hit them, according to court documents.
This was also the day LeBron and Bronny played together for the first time in a regular-season game during the Los Angeles Lakers’ season-opening 110-103 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Lopez and McGillen said in the lawsuit that they sustained injuries that will require additional medical attention. They claimed the car they were driving had been damaged and had lost value because of the wreck. They sued LeBron and his son for unspecified damages.
The Los Angeles County Superior Court lawsuit asserts that the professional athletes “negligently owned, controlled, repaired, entrusted, maintained and operated an automobile as to cause it to, and it did become involved in an accident or collision.”
On Feb. 20, the L.A. County Superior Court filed court documents stating that LeBron and Bronny “deny each and every allegation contained in the complaint.”
In a Netflix docuseries titled Starting 5, which premiered on Oct. 9, 2024, James also denied the 2016 rumor that he spent $1.5 million on his body each year. He did not confirm or deny any numbers. Instead, he credits his maintained physical health to his strict biohacking routine.
