Lea Michele Filming ‘Glee’ In Manhattan

Lea Michele filmed scenes for Glee’s fifth season in New York City’s Central Park on Monday.

Michele, who has reportedly been a pillar of strength for the Glee cast and crew following the death of her boyfriend and fellow Glee star Cory Monteith, looked stunning while shooting in a fuchsia trench coat. Filming what appeared to be an emotional scene, Michele strolled through the park paths before coming to lean against the railing of the Bow Bridge.

On the hit Fox musical series, Michele’s character Rachel lands a part in a reprisal of Funny Girl. Michele took to Twitter to share a glimpse of the New York set in front of the St. James Theatre.

In addition to ardently pursuing her goal of being on Broadway, Rachel was in an on-again off-again relationship with jock-turned-glee club star Finn, who was played by the late Monteith. After much consideration show creator Ryan Murphy decided that they would have Finn die on the show, but would not mimic the circumstances surrounding Monteith’s death, which involved an apparent heroin overdose.

After dedicating her Teen Choice Awards trophy to her late boyfriend in a tearful and intimate speech, Michele has been spotted in public more often. Wearing her “Cory” nameplate necklace, Michele went shopping in Manhattan with her mother and assistant over the weekend before the cameras started rolling on her and her pink coat.

Glee’s season 5 premiere “Love, Love, Love” will air on Sept. 26. The tribute episode to Monteith will air Oct. 10.
