Benanti suddenly walked on stage to the podium, bearing an uncanny resemblance to Melania, as she greeted Colbert with a bunch of cheek kisses.
“My fellow Americans,” Benanti began, in a perfect impression of Melania’s Russian accent. “This is truly the best of times . . . It is the worst of times. I did not plagiarize my speech last night; I would never do such a thing. I would not, could not with a goat. I would not, could not on a boat.”
Benanti hilariously took quotes from Charles Dickens and Dr. Seuss — but as the speech continued there were more quotes from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, McDonald’s commercials and Kit Kat commercials.
