Jerad Miller and Amanda Miller were captured on surveillance footage during their shooting spree in Las Vegas, including their final moments between the stacks at a Walmart.
In the footage released by Nevada police, the Millers are shown lying on the floor in an aisle of the Walmart. They’d just had a shootout towards the front of the store with police. Though the video doesn’t capture the couple’s voices, a police voiceover can be heard. "They're looking at each other and it looks like they're shooting each other," an officer says during the video. "It looks like she just shot him, and she's about to 405."
A 405 is the police code for suicide.
Autopsies performed on Jerad and Amanda revealed that the officer heard on the video misinterpreted the chain of events. While Amanda did shoot at her husband, she failed to hit him. He died from a wound sustained by a bullet shot from a police officer’s rifle in the standoff. Amanda did, however, turn her gun on herself to commit suicide.
"None of the rounds that she fired hit him," Las Vegas Assistant Sheriff Kevin McMahill said at a news conference Wednesday. "She did not shoot him."
The Millers were identified as the shooters on Monday in the tragic incident that took the lives of Las Vegas police officers Alyn Beck, 41, and Igor Soldo, 31. They also killed civilian Robert Wilcox, who was carrying a concealed weapon and made an attempt to take out Jerad, unknowingly putting himself in close range to Amanda, who shot him in the rib area.
