Larry Hernandez, who stars on the popular Larrymania reality TV show, is facing kidnapping and assault charges.
Hernandez is accused of kidnapping and assaulting Jose Andrade in Newberry, S.C., reported CNN. According to the complaint, Hernandez wasn’t satisfied with his payment for a gig and held Andrade hostage until he received $30,000 in payment – $16,000 more than the $14,000 the promoter planned to give him. Incidentally, Andrade was merely a friend of the promoter.
“They kidnapped him, they beat him…. He wants justice done because we do not want there to be another report that, instead of kidnapping, says murder,” said Alejandro Andrade, Jose Andrade’s brother.
Hernandez was arrested on Sept. 30 and has remained in prison since. In a message from behind bars, Hernandez said, “As you well know, I am a person who has always been honest and hard-working, showing my face in any situation. That is why I am asking you to be patient. As soon as I can I will respond and clarify any doubts about it. They are slanderous lies, as time will tell.”
Last Friday, Hernandez made a court appearance in South Carolina. During the hearing, the judge ruled that he could be released on $200,000 cash bond with his passport revoked.
A probably cause hearing is set for December.
