Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of President-elect Donald Trump, has called on women to trust his leadership, emphasizing his support for women in his inner circle.
Speaking to The New York Post, she highlighted Trump’s record of empowering female leaders, including Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, who he nominated to lead the Homeland Security Department. Lara said she appreciates his focus on ability over identity, stating, “I never want someone to give me a job because of my gender.”
Lara expressed confidence that the U.S. will see a female president in her lifetime but believes gender should not be the deciding factor. “Hillary Clinton tried to tell everyone to vote for her because she was a woman,” Lara said, adding that qualifications and leadership matter more. She also speculated that the first female president would likely be a Republican.
Reflecting on Trump’s first term, Lara acknowledged the challenges her family faced, including personal attacks and strained friendships. Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, she noted, chose to step back from politics to focus on family after their roles in the first administration. “They did some incredible things, but it was tough on them,” she said.
While living in Florida, Lara briefly flirted with being considered for Marco Rubio’s U.S. Senate seat but ultimately decided against it. She explained her focus is on raising her children and hinted at future political aspirations, saying, “It’s a no for now, but not no forever.”
Lara, who previously worked as a producer on Inside Edition and launched her own workout clothing line, hinted at an upcoming high-profile role to amplify the accomplishments of the Trump administration. “I’m excited to share something forward-facing soon,” she teased.
As for Donald Trump’s circle of advisors, Lara praised Elon Musk, calling him “First Buddy.” “Who wouldn’t want one of the brightest minds of our time in the circle? He’s great, and we reap the benefits of his vision.”
