A fan of singer Lana Del Rey was discovered camped out in the garage of her Malibu home.
The stalker, described as a 19-year-old white male by police, was arrested Tuesday pending charges. He was found by law enforcement officials in Santa Monica after fleeing the living quarters he had set up in the residence that is currently under construction.
Through notes and information gathered from the man’s laptop computer, police learned that he believed he had a “spiritual connection” with Del Rey. “Based on ramblings in his notes, he was clearly infatuated with Lana,” the detective on the case told Entertainment Tonight.
Fortunately, the teen never confronted or posed a violent threat to Del Rey, who was informed about the squatter by a construction worker.
Incidentally, Del Rey had moved to the Malibu beachfront property in an effort to gain some privacy from her overzealous fans, reported TMZ. The singer had previously lived in Los Angeles’ Hancock Park neighborhood, where fans would set up camp to try to meet her.
Del Rey has yet to comment on the fan’s arrest.
