Police in Florida thwarted a man’s attempts to kidnap singer Lana Del Rey.

POLICE STOP MAN FROM KIDNAPPING LANA DEL REY

Authorities in Orlando are taking credit for stopping 43-year-old Michael Hunt, who allegedly planned to kidnap Del Rey. Hunt was arrested last Friday as the singer, whose real name is Elizabeth Grant, was scheduled to perform. Hunt now faces kidnapping and aggravated stalking charges. He was caught in possession of a knife and a ticket to the concert, though he did not make it into the venue.

“ARRESTED: Michael Hunt, for aggravated stalking & attempted kidnapping w/a weapon,” wrote the Orlando Police Twitter account. “After receiving a tip we deemed a credible threat, OPD got to him before he could get near singer Lana Del Rey last night at her show at Amway Center.”

Officers spoke with the Orlando Sentinel and shared that they received a tip from a caller that Hunt had posted a “cryptic and threatening” message on social media about Del Rey. “I love you so much Lana I can’t wait to be back in your arms in a few days baby I hear you singing I miss you baby I miss you so much Lana,” Hunt wrote on Jan. 29 on Facebook. The account thought to belong to the man also referred to the singer as his “queen.” The following day, Hunt wrote that he wanted to “see my queen on Friday,” which was Del Rey’s next concert date. “From that day forward our decisions will be as one,” he added.

Hunt also posted a video, in which he spoke about “taking off with Lana.”

Hunt is being held at the Orange County jail with no bond.

After her concert, Del Rey posted on Twitter that she was “doing fine” and that she is excited for her next tour date in Atlanta. “Hey kiddos,” she wrote. “I’m doing fine thanks for the messages. And tomorrow we’ll be in Hotlanta can’t wait to see everyone. Yachty that means u.”
