Lady Gaga recorded “Til It Happens to You” for the 2015 documentary The Hunting Ground, which deals with rape on college campuses in the United States. She dropped the video, directed by Twilight and Thirteen‘s Catherine Hardwicke, on Friday. The video starring Nikki Reed and Kiersey Clemons tackles the subject matter head-on, showing three instances of rape.

“The following contains graphic content that may be emotionally upsetting,” reads a disclaimer at the start of the video. “But reflects the reality of what is happening daily on college campuses.”

In the past, Lady Gaga has opened up about her own experience with rape at age 19, and how it took her years to deal with the trauma.

“I went through some horrific things, and I’m able to laugh now, because I’ve gone through a lot of mental and physical therapy and emotional therapy to heal over the years,” she told Howard Stern on his SiriusXM show. “My music’s been wonderful for me. But, you know, I was a shell of my former self at one point. I was not myself.”

“It didn’t affect me as much right after as it did about four or five years later,” she added. “It hit me so hard. I was so traumatized by it that I was like, ‘Just keep going.’ Because I just had to get out of there.”
