Lady Gaga posted a picture of herself wearing a ring designed by B.Akerlund for Klarna.usa on Valentine’s Day to show the world that anyone is free to propose anytime. She spoke about an old tradition which says that women can only propose on leap years and how anyone, regardless of their gender identity, should be able to propose whenever they wish and celebrate their love.
The pop-star, who has received 11 Grammy Awards wrote, “Celebrating Valentine’s Day wearing this badass ring designed by my friend @bcompleted for @klarna.usa. Did you know that an old tradition says that only during a leap year, on Feb 29th, are women allowed to propose to men? It’s 2020, and any person of any gender identity can propose to anyone, anytime! So as we all celebrate love today, I put this ring on my own finger as a sign of my love for myself and for my fans – and a reminder that we are all born superstars. #getwhatyoulove”
“For my entire career, I’ve taken pride in using my voice to stand up for what I believe is right,” Gaga said in a comment for Klarna. “So I am excited to work with my friend B. and Klarna to celebrate how far we’ve come as a culture, and call out the work we need to continue to do.”

The ring Gaga chose is called the “Knight Finger.” Sandstorm said that the ring was “created as a symbol to enable everyone to express love on their terms to whom they wish, just like our millions of shoppers can get what they love every day with Klarna.”
It was designed to inspire people “fearlessly love on our own terms” and “cast aside traditions of the past to define our own futures,” said designer and activist Åkerlund.
The proceeds from the sale of the rings will go to Dress for Success, global nonprofit organization that provides professional attire for low-income women to help support their economic independence.
