Lady Gaga Leads MTV Video Award Nominations
MTV has announced the nominees for its 26th annual Video Music Awards, because apparently people still make music videos. The event will be held in Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre on Sunday, September 12. Overachiever Lady Gaga has broken yet another record, garnering a total of 13 nominees, the most in the show’s history, including Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, and three noms for Best Choreography. Recently recovered rapper Eminem came in second with 8 nominees, including Best Hip-Hop Video and Video of the Year.
Voting for all categories except Best New Artist are open until August 24 on the MTV website. As usual, the Best New Artist category will be open into the live show. Nominees include Jason DeRulo, Justin Bieber, Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj and Broken Bells. –ELENA COX
