Lady Gaga Defends Teen For Wearing T-Shirt

On Monday, 15-year-old Tennessee high school student Cole Goforth was sent home from school for causing a "disruption." But, it wasn’t mouthing-off to a teacher or starting a food fight in the cafeteria. Goforth was sent home because of his Lady GaGa T-shit.

The shirt, sold on Gaga’s "Monster Ball" tour, is white with black lettering that reads "I <3 Lady Gay Gay," the heart on the shirt rainbow-colored.

Local media outlets have covered the story extensively, questioning if the school violated Goforth’s freedom of speech by sending him home. Gaga herself has heard of the story and took to Twitter to defend her "little monster," her name for her fans. "Been in the studio for days and hours of record after record, and when i hear that a little monster was discriminated against* BY TEACHERS. Thank you for wearing your tee-shirt proud at school, you make me so proud, at the monsterball, you are an inspiration to us all. I love you.X"

Gaga’s tweets have since drawn more interest in the story. Cole himself has taken to Twitter to address the situation. "Individuality, self-expression, and truly being comfortable with yourself is something that runs so deep to me, I could cry talking about it," he tweeted. "Thank you so much Lady Gaga, it means alot to hear that coming from you. Your an inspiration to me, and countless others."

In an interview with Nashville’s Local WSMV-TV Cole said, "I don’t think my sexuality is widely accepted around here, so of course they are going to single me out." –JOE GALBO
