Lady Gaga Calls Perez Hilton A Stalker; Former Friends Feud On Twitter

Lady Gaga and Perez Hilton used to have an unusually close relationship for a global pop star and a celebrity gossip journalist. But now the tides have turned and Lady Gaga and Hilton are having an all out Twitter war in which the singing superstar has called her former BFF a stalker.

Gaga’s stalker post, which was taken off her Twitter page later on Sunday, read: “STAY AWAY FROM ME + MY FAMILY YOU ARE SICK TRYING TO RENT AN APARTMENT IN MY BUILDING TO STALK ME. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!," It seems to have been the last straw for Hilton, who feels he’s been slandered by his former pal after he was merely spotted checking out an apartment in an NYC building he hadn't known was occupied by Gaga.

“My heart hurts that my former very good friend Lady GaGa, a person I used to call my 'wifey' and travelled the world with, is making very public and very untrue allegations about me on Twitter,” Hilton told The Hollywood Reporter. “While it is still too painful for me to go into detail about why I chose to no longer make her a part of my life, I will say that I am a critic and not a stalker. Any allegation that I am stalking her is utterly false, defamatory and now appear to be putting me in danger."

He added on Twitter, "I can't sleep. I am literally sick to my stomach. Not playing any f–king games here. I am afraid for my f–king safety and that of my son."

After Gaga had posted the stalking tweet, her “Little Monsters” began issuing threats against Hilton. The singer, for her part, has tried to calm her fans since her tweet incited them to riot. “Please monsters do not be affected by someone like this NOTHING merits this kind of hatred. Im ok & I always survive. Ignore him. Just Dance,” she tweeted.

On Friday, Gaga alluded to a possible starting point of the riff between her and Hilton on Twitter.

Hilton, offered another take on the dissolution of their friendship, suggesting that the cause of their split had to do with a possible drug problem plaguing the pop singer.

Ultimately choosing to take the high road, Gaga took to Tumblr to reach out to her legion of fans, asking them to remember the tenets of her and her mother’s Born This Way Foundation: tolerance, acceptance and kindness. In the lengthy “message from Gaga,” Hilton’s name isn’t mentioned once, but it's clear that the singer wants the out-of-control spiral of hate headed Hilton’s way to stop – whether because it simply looks bad or because she regrets fueling the feud can’t be said.
