In a surprising revelation at the 2024 Paris Olympics, pop singer Lady Gaga, 38, disclosed her engagement to longtime partner Michael Polansky. The Grammy-winning artist shared the news while attending a swimming event with French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal on Sunday.

The announcement came unexpectedly during a casual conversation captured in a TikTok video posted by Prime Minister Attal. In the clip, Gaga introduces Polansky as her fiancé, marking the first public acknowledgment of their engagement.

Polansky, an entrepreneur and tech investor, has been romantically linked to the “Bad Romance” singer since early 2020. The couple’s relationship first caught public attention when they were spotted sharing a New Year’s Eve kiss in Las Vegas. They officially went public with their romance during Super Bowl weekend in Miami later that year, with Gaga posting a cozy photo of the pair on social media.

Their relationship deepened during the Covid-19 pandemic during which the couple quarantined together at Gaga’s residence. This period of isolation reportedly brought them closer, laying the foundation for their strong bond.

Polansky has been a devoted presence in Gaga’s life, supporting her through various high-profile events. He accompanied her to President Joe Biden’s inauguration in January 2021, where she performed. At the time, Gaga reportedly introduced him as her boyfriend to backstage acquaintances.

The A Star Is Born actress has been relatively private about her relationship, but in a rare comment to The Hollywood Reporter in 2021, she referred to Polansky as part of her “whole life” alongside her beloved dogs.

This engagement marks a new chapter for Gaga, who has previously been engaged twice. Her past engagements to actor Taylor Kinney and talent agent Christian Carino both ended before reaching the altar.

In 2022, Gaga was in the news when her dogwalker was shot by dognappers in Los Angeles.
