Lady Antebellum’s frontwoman Hillary Scott is engaged to boyfriend Chris Tyrell, after the drummer proposed to his girlfriend over the Fourth of July weekend.
"Chris proposed exactly the way I've always dreamed," Scott, 25, shared with E! News. "Our families were close by, but it was just us out on a beautiful deck overlooking a lake in East Tennessee. We had just been on a hike and – in our workout clothes – he hit the knee! We feel so blessed by God that He sent us each other, and we are looking so forward to forever together!”
The couple also confirmed the news on Lady Antebellum’s Twitter feed. "It's official… Hillary is engaged!" said the tweet.
A date has not yet been set for the wedding, as the two musicians are busy with their burgeoning careers: Lady Antebellum, which also includes Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, is headlining their own summer tour, and will release a new album, Own the Night on September 13. Tyrell, 24, who has toured with Lady Antebellum, Love and Theft and Josh Kelley, is currently the drummer in Edens Edge's backing band on Brad Paisley's H20 II summer tour.
Scott and Tyrell met on Tim McGraw’s Southern Voice tour in early 2010, when each of their bands served as his opening acts. In fact, Lady Antebellum's current hit "Just A Kiss" was inspired by the budding relationship between Scott and Tyrell. "There is so much excitement at the beginning of a new relationship… This song is about one of those times when your brain kicks in and tells your heart, 'Good things are worth waiting for.' " Scott told Billboard.
Scott is the second member of Lady Antebellum to give up singledom. Her bandmate Kelley is married, leaving Haywood as the lone single member of the Grammy-winning trio.
