Kris Humphries received some backlash Friday night after tweeting out a questionable post following the airing of his ex father-in-law Bruce Jenner‘s interview with Diane Sawyer.
During his interview with Sawyer, Jenner, who has been followed by rumors about his gender identity for months, said, “For all intents and purposes, I am a woman.” While the revelation was met with praise for the former Olympian’s bravery, Humphries’ tweet appeared to be less supportive.
“Man, I’m glad I got out when I did,” Humphries, who was married to Kim Kardashian 72 days before filing for divorce, wrote.
Following the swell of backlash, Humphries once again took to Twitter and highlighted the hashtag he’d added on to his initial tweet.
“I have and always will support Bruce hence #Gottadoyou,” he wrote. “Now recognize I was too vague and sincerely apologize for the way this came across.”
He also tweeted, “#FullySupportBruce.”
Kardashian’s current husband, rapper Kanye West, was apparently instrumental in helping the reality TV star come to terms with Jenner’s transition.
“[Kanye] says to Kim, ‘Look, I can be married to the most beautiful woman in the world, and I am. I can have the most beautiful little daughter in the world, and I have that,’” Jenner told Sawyer. “‘But I’m nothing if I can’t be me. If I can’t be true to myself, they don’t mean anything.’”
