Knife Found On O.J. Simpson Property Not 1994 Murder Weapon

Many strange things have happened in O.J. Simpson‘s various trials in the past two decades. So in February 2016, when a retired motorcycle cop turned in the a knife found on Simpson’s property by a construction worker, apparently having discovered it in 1998 when tearing down Simpson’s Brentwood home, the spectators were buzzing once again, wondering if this knife could somehow be connected to the 1994 murder of Nicole Brown, Simpson’s ex wife, and Ronald Goldman, her friend. Now, after a month of testing, the LAPD has concluded that there is no evidence connecting the knife to the murder.

“We don’t know if its’ a hoax, but there’s no nexus to the murders, based on the testing we’ve done,” said LAPD Captain Andrew Neiman.

Another source confirmed this to ET explaining: “They tested [the knife]. No blood found on it, it was not the correct size and the blade wasn”t serrated. [Nicole and Rob] were killed with a long serrated knife.”

The retired police officer claims that when he had received the knife in 2003, he attempted to hand it over to the LAPD, but they told him there’s “nothing we can do about it” since this was after Simpson had been acquitted, and “so [they] don’t want anything to do with this.”

Conveniently, the knife surfaced just as the show American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson became popular. The show is a courtroom drama, following the trial that came after the murders.

In the trial, Simpson was found not guilty, but was held liable in civil court, so he was ordered to pay $33.5 million in damages to the victim’s families, which, so far, has not been fulfilled.

Simpson was arrested in 2007 for a botched robbery in Las Vegas. He led a group of men into a hotel and casino to steal his own sports memorabilia. He was found guilty of kidnapping and armed robbery and sentenced to 33 years in prison. He is currently serving his time at the Lovelock Correctional Facility in Nevada.

This is not the first discovery of a possible murder weapon. Six weeks prior to the murder, Simpson purchased a 15-inch stiletto knife. This evidence was dismissed. Parts of a knife were discovered in a waste storage tank at O’Hare Airport in Chicago, where Simpson had flown on the night of the murders, but this evidence was dismissed as well.
