Kit Harrington was seen at Wimbledon this week with his curly mane of dark brown curls fully intact, sparking rumors that Jon Snow is not as dead as he looked in the Game of Thrones finale.

Kit Harrington’s Hair

Harrington’s hair has become a fixture in the Game of Thrones universe, a character all of its own. In interviews Harrington has openly spoken about how he’s contractually obligated to keep his hair a certain length for filming.

“It has its own contract,” he said on Kelly & Michael of his hair. “I’m not allowed to cut it. And I didn’t realize this until recently. I wanted to cut it; I’ve had long hair for ages. And they were like, ‘Oh, no, no, no, that’s not happening.'”

The British actor has also stated his intention to cut off his luscious locks as soon as he was able – presumably when he was done playing Jon Snow. “I told my agent, ‘No more swords, no more horses,'” Harrington told Rolling Stone of his post Thrones plans. “You [don’t want to] get stuck in things. And maybe I can cut my f–king hair.”

If Jon Snow is not going to return to Westeros, why hasn’t Harrington gotten a hair cut?

Harrington himself attempted to put any rumors of his return to rest following the Game of Thrones season 5 finale, telling Entertainment Weekly, “I’ve been told I’m dead. I’m dead. I’m not coming back next season. So that’s all I can tell you, really.”

Despite his insistence that he’s done with the hit HBO, few are convinced that he truly is. Multiple fan theories explain ways in which Jon Snow can return, believing that Ned Stark’s supposed bastard still has more of his storied life left to live.
