Kirstie Alley revealed her new, fit physique on Monday after losing 50-pounds on Jenny Craig in 2014.

Kirstie Alley Drops 50-Pounds On Jenny Craig

One year ago, Alley made a New Year’s resolution to lose 30 pounds in the next year, but it wasn’t until April that the actress decided to get back on the Jenny Craig program – she was a spokeswoman for the weight-loss company from 2004-2007. “It was so easy for me when I did it before,” Alley told People of her decision.

Alley set out to lose 30-pounds, and lost 50, going from a size 12 or 14 to a 6 or 8, and earning back her spot as a spokesperson for Jenny Craig.

Alley has never shied away from publicly talking about her weight gain or weight loss, frequently losing weight and then gaining it back in the public eye, but she says this time it’s different. Alley says one of the key differences is that she took full advantage of her Jenny Craig consultant. “I started looking at myself as an athlete. I was a competitive swimmer for a very long time and I remember that I wouldn’t have won anything or done well in swimming if I didn’t have a coach,” she told People.

Alley spoke of the importance of consultants again on her Today Show appearance, telling Matt Lauer, “This time… I just really accessed our consultants [on Jenny Craig]…People always said celebrity spokespeople get private consultants, well, with Jenny Craig everybody gets a consultant.”

When Lauer pressed Alley on how she plans on keeping the weight off – something she has struggled with in the past – Alley explained that her mindset had changed. Instead of focusing on a goal weight or an ideal number of pounds to lose, and then having no idea what to do after she’s reached it, Alley is incorporating the idea of being healthy into her life.

“Before, I’ve had more of the view of ‘get to the goal, have the goal.’ But this time…I really looked at it as ‘This is my life. And, until I’m dead, basically, I’m going to keep it this way.’… I didn’t always have that feeling, because I had set myself a goal. And this time it’s different, my goal is to keep this and maintain this throughout the rest of my life,” Alley said.

Alley added that her weight loss is partly inspired by her desire to do more acting, on television or the big screen, saying she prefers to look more thin on camera. In fact, Alley will soon guest star on the ABC sitcom, The Middle.

“I think it’s really important for everyone to decide how they want to see themselves. And I like to see myself looking more svelte,” Alley told Lauer.

In her interview with People, Alley revealed that she is using tricks to help incorporate her healthy diet and fitness into her life. “I got a yellow townie bike and I ride over to friends’ houses. I bribe people. I’ll say, let’s ride to this restaurant and I’ll pay for dinner. And believe me: if I bike four miles to a restaurant, I don’t wreck it with my order,” Alley stated.

Expect to hear more from Alley in the days to come. Following her Today Show appearance, Alley took to Twitter to joke about a possible Presidential campaign with Jonathan Knight of the New Kids On The Block as her Vice President.
