The coronation of King Charles III took place on Saturday. The Dean of Westminster poured holy oil onto the Coronation Spoon. Afterward, the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby anointed Charles on his head, breast and hands.
Welby then placed St. Edward’s Crown on Charles’ head and exclaimed, “God Save the King,” followed by everyone in attendance.
Camilla, Charles’ wife, was also crowned as Queen. She was similarly anointed with holy oil by Welby and had Queen Mary’s Crown placed on her head. Camilla’s coronation dress was a combination of silver, gold and ivory created by British fashion designer Bruce Oldfield. It was tailored from a silk fabric called Peau de Soie and formed into a coat dress shape.

There was also much discussion about whether Prince Harry would make an appearance at his father’s coronation. He did, attending the event with his uncles, Prince Edward and Prince Andrew as well as two of his cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
Meghan Markle was not present, remaining in the U.S. with her children to celebrate Archie’s fourth birthday. This was the first time Harry publicly conversed with his family since the release of his controversial memoir, Spare.
The Royal Air Force flypast was affected by the rainy weather with only the Red Arrows appearing, leaving a trail of red, white and blue in their wake, and the day concluded with Charles and Camilla waving goodbye to the onlooking London crowd.
