As the 2024 presidential race heats up, a long-standing rivalry has resurfaced as Kimberly Guilfoyle, the fiancée of the former president’s son, Don Jr., has launched a scathing attack on Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.
This animosity between Guilfoyle and Harris dates back to their time working in the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office in the early 2000s. Guilfoyle, a local prosecutor, alleged that the then-assistant district attorney Harris had attempted to block her from returning to her previous job with the DA’s office. The falling-out even made headlines in a 2003 San Francisco Chronicle column, and Guilfoyle described the “frosty and underhanded” treatment she received from Harris.
Guilfoyle claimed that Harris, who was running for San Francisco DA, had no desire to see her return to the office. Harris, on the other hand, disputed Guilfoyle’s version of events and stated that she “never discouraged her from joining the office.” Harris even said that she called Guilfoyle in Los Angeles “to see if she needed any help.” Nonetheless, Guilfoyle did eventually land a job in the office a few months later.
Over the years, Guilfoyle’s animosity toward Harris only intensified. As a prominent figure in the former president’s campaign, Guilfoyle has taken to the airwaves and social media to unleash a barrage of attacks on her former rival. She has accused Harris of being a “DEI hire” and a failed prosecutor who “supports anarchy, literally.”
One post on Guilfoyle’s Instagram account reads ‘KAMALA HARRIS IS A FRAUD ON EVERY LEVEL,’ and features her laugh and agree with the former president’s assessment that Harris “became black”only later in life.
In the 2003 column, when Harris was running for district attorney, she said of Guilfoyle, “I’ve seen Kimberly a number of times over the last few months… We have a great rapport and have great respect for each other…I think she is a great lawyer, and I look forward to working with her.”
