Kim Kardashian‘s ensemble for the 2015 Met Gala, inspired by Cher‘s look at the first Met Gala in the 70s, was an off-white peek-a-boo gown.
Kardashian walked the star-studded event’s red carpet in Peter Dundas‘ first gown for Roberto Cavalli. The beaded floor-length number featured an ethereal white feathered train, which the reality TV star accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. At her side, Kardashian’s husband Kanye West wore a suit by Cavalli.

“Thank you so much to everyone who made this look happen last night! Of course @peter_dundas & @robertocavalli for making me your 1st gown! What an honor! & @lorraineschwartz for jewelry,” Kardashian captioned a picture with the rapper on Instagram. “Glam squad- Peter Savic for hair & @makeupbymario. Kanye wore Cavalli as well!”
Though Kardashian’s gown drew comparisons by style watchers to Beyonce‘s 2012 Met Gala dress, Kardashian revealed on Instagram that it was a previous Met Gala look of Cher’s that served as creative inspiration.
“Tonight’s inspiration! Cher at the 1st ever Met Gala! I just met her and told her this photo was my inspiration for my dress tonight!” Kardashian captioned a picture of the pop icon in 1974. “She is so beautiful! So happy I met her!”
