Kim Kardashian Tears Up While Recounting Paris Robbery On ‘Ellen’

Kim Kardashian appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday to discuss the moment she was robbed in Paris, France in October 2016. Among the items stolen from Kardashian, who was tied up and held at gunpoint, was a 20-karat diamond engagement ring from husband, Kanye West. But Kardashian told Ellen that the robbery has made her better.

“I know this sounds crazy, but I know that was meant to happen to me. I don’t want to start crying, but I feel like that was so meant to happen to me,” Kardashian said.

Appearing on the show without any jewelry on, the reality star explained that she likes the new person the robbery has forced her to become.

“I’m such a different person… It was meant to happen to me. I really feel like things happen in your life to teach you things. It was probably no secret, and you see it on the show – I was being flashy and I was definitely materialistic before… I’m so happy that my kids get this me and that this is who I’m raising my kids [as]. Because I just don’t care about that stuff anymore.”

Kardashian made it clear that although she no longer would live a materialistic life, she saw no problem with others living as such.

“Even though there’s nothing wrong [with showing off], truly – it’s ok if you’re proud of that and you work so hard and you get something. It’s just not who I am anymore,” said Kardashian.

DeGeneres and Kardashian began to discuss the details of the robbery when Kardashian revealed that she had learned that the criminals had been following her for two years, planning the crime.

When they arrived at Kardashian’s building in Paris, they told the concierge to bring them to the “rapper’s wife.”

In a rare moment of humor, DeGeneres joked, “How dare them not know your name!”

After recounting the details of the robbery Kardashian expressed that she was just happy to be in good health and with her family.

“It would have been way worse, so I don’t want to sound like I’m not grateful. I’m out, I’m home, I’m safe, I’m such a better person. It’s ok. Let’s move on.”
