The music world lost one of its most beloved artists on Tuesday, with the sudden death of rapper Nate Dogg at the age of 41. Stars and fans took to their Twitter accounts to remember and mourn the late artist.
“It’s easy to love me now. RIP Nate Dogg,” Drake tweeted, citing a Nate Dogg lyric from "21 Questions," as news of his passing spread early Wednesday morning. “RIP Nate Dogg…West Coast LEGEND! My fav songs are – 'Ain’t no fun if the homies can’t have none' and ['Regulate']!!!!” wrote Kim Kardashian, referencing one of Nate Dogg's most famous songs, "Regulate" with Warren G.
Over the course of his 20 year career, Nate Dogg recorded several solo albums, including G-Funk Classics, Vol. 1 & 2 and Music and Me. He was also a frequent collaborator with many of hip hop's top artists—in part due to his signature voice—and was most openly mourned by his peers. "There is a certain void in hip hop's heart that can never be filled. Glad we got to make history together," tweeted Ludacris, who teamed up with the Long Beach, Calif. native for the 2001 hit "Area Codes." "RIP to a real cool brother my man Nate Dogg! You will be missed," added Diddy.
Nate Dogg, born Nathaniel Hale, reportedly died due to complications resulting from two strokes, his lawyer Mark Geragos told the Associated Press. The rapper suffered the first stroke in 2007 and another in 2008, which left him paralyzed and breathing through a tracheotomy tube. —EMILY EXTON
