Kim Kardashian West apologized to her fans for involving herself in a race-related argument.

KIM KARDASHIAN APOLOGIZES FOR DEFENDING RACISM

It started when beauty influencer Jeffree Star criticized Kim K’s new line of makeup products. Some of Kardashian’s fans jumped to her defense and made comments about Star’s past comments on social media. This caused Kardashian to tell her fans to stop and essentially to ‘get over it.’

“Guys, like, I see you being so petty, bringing up things in his past where he was negative,” she said. “But he’s also apologized for those things and I get that it’s a serious deal if you say racial things but I do believe in people changing and people that apologize, I will give them the benefit of the doubt.”

And of course in the wake of the very racially charged rallies and violence this past weekend in Charlottesville, people got upset with Kardashian for minimizing Star’s comments. “Wait so, Kim Kardashian, who isn’t black, is telling black people to get over racism because dude is good at make up?” one user wrote on Twitter. “Non-Black people like Kim Kardashian should not be telling Black people to get over Jeffree Star’s violent racist pass,” said another. And, Then @KimKardashian has the NERVE to say black ppl are PETTY for bringing up Jeffree Star’s racist past! BITCHHHHHHHHHHH,” said one more.

“I really wanted to apologize to you guys and my fans for defending a situation yesterday that I really didn’t know enough about,” she began. “I just feel a bit naïve, and I do want to really apologize for me feeling like I had the right to say ‘get over it’ in a situation that involves racism and I just don’t feel like I have the right to speak on that and I really really really am sorry. Just from the bottom of my heart I was – I’ve always been about just like positivity and I’ve never been a negative person – so my whole thing was like ‘hey guys I don’t want to see negativity in my timeline or my mentions, let’s just move forward, let’s be positive and move past this’ and, I realize I was a bit naive in saying that.”

Kardashian has been one to immediately apologize to fans for her mistakes, and this was no exception. Star, on the other hand, spoke out to tell people to focus on more important matters. “The media wants to keep us all distracted by news headlines about me and Kim, but let’s talk about how sad our country is right now,” he said in a tweet. “Because with how dark and depressing America is right now, I don’t think I’m important. Stop wasting time on gossip and focus on reality.”
