Kim Cattrall & Sarah Jessica Parker Respond To ‘Sex & The City 3’ Cancellation

Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker have weighed in on Warner Bros.’ decision to cancel Sex and the City 3.

On Thursday, The Daily Mail reported that the film project was canceled because Cattrall, who played Samantha in the series, demanded that they produce more movies that she had in development. Cattrall took to Twitter to deny the claims.

“Woke 2 a @MailOnline 💩storm! The only ‘DEMAND’ I ever made was that I didn’t want to do a 3rd film….& that was back in 2016,” the star wrote.

Parker stated that she was “disappointed” that the film was canceled. “It’s over…we’re not doing it,” she told Extra. “I’m disappointed. We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story. It’s not just disappointing that we don’t get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie.”

In 2015, Kristen Davis, who played Charlotte, said, “I think we’d all like to do it again.” And in 2016, Miranda-portrayer Cynthia Nixon said, “Where there’s life, there’s hope.” Neither actress has commented on the cancelation.

Willie Garson, who played Stanley Blach on the show, did speak out, and seemed to discreetly speak ill of Cattrall. “Disappointed for all crew holding on for negotiations to conclude for their jobs, and of course, for the fans. Leave it at that. #Truth,” he tweeted. “Every cast member is integral, and all did amazing work, and would have in this lovely script as well. Nothing to do if one doesn’t want to.”
