HBO Max confirmed the production of a revival of the TV show Sex and the City. Three of the four original main cast members revealed they were part of the project, but actress Kim Cattrall, who played the character Samantha Jones, will not return for the reboot.
Cattrall has not officially commented on the news of a the revival, but she subtly reacted by liking a fan’s tweet.
“I absolutely love Sex and the City and whilst I am saddened that Samantha will not return, I applaud doing what is best for you and think this is great example of putting yourself first. Well done @KimCattrall,” read the tweet.
So far, there has been no explanation as to why Cattrall is not involved in the project, but her and her ex co star, Sarah Jessica Parker‘s, relationship has been strained in the past. Cattrall rejected Parker’s condolences after her brother passed away in 2018.
“You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona,” wrote Cattrall in the caption of a post on Instagram.
They emphasized, “There won’t be another deal. There may be one-offs, but that’s it.”
Seibert speculated, “If struggle without context is baffling, heaven without struggle isn’t very interesting.”
The shooter was identified to be John R. Lyons, 24, of Westchester, Illinois.
