Tracy Morgan
Kevin Roper, who was driving the tractor-trailer that crashed into Tracy Morgan’s limo bus in June 2014, has been indicted.
A New Jersey grand jury returned a 10-count indictment against Roper, 35. He was charged with aggravated manslaughter, vehicular homicide, and eight counts of aggravated assault, according to an indictment obtained by People magazine.
On June 7, 2014, Roper’s truck crashed into the limo bus carrying Morgan. The accident left Morgan severely injured and left his longtime friend and mentor James “Jimmy Mack” McNair dead. Morgan’s assistant Jeffrey Milea and comedians Harris Stanton and Ardie Fuqua were also hurt in the accident.
The indictment states that Roper “did drive a vehicle recklessly and thereby did cause the death of James McNair.” It further states that Morgan’s and the other’s injuries were also caused by Roper’s actions.
Roper had reportedly attempted to have the criminal charges filed against him dismissed, but a judge decided to deny the motion. It was found over the summer that Roper had not slept for the 28 hours that led up to the accident, per a report by the National Transportation Safety Board.
