Kevin Hart was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol in Los Angeles early Sunday morning.
The stand-up comedian was allegedly driving 90 mph down an L.A. freeway in his black Mercedes, cutting across lanes of traffic and nearly crashing into a gas tanker truck, according to a statement by the California Highway Patrol, reported CNN.
Hart immediately exited the freeway and pulled over when the traffic police pursued him. “Mr. Hart had objective signs of intoxication and was unable to perform the field sobriety tests,” the statement detailed. On Twitter, Hart wrote that he told the cop that he was drunk and that the sobriety tests would have been a waste of time.
“This is a wake up call for me, I have to be smarter & last night I wasn’t… everything happens for a reason,” Hart added on Sunday. “Drinking & driving is not a game or a laughing matter. People have lost lives because of stupid… this!”
Police booked Hart on Sunday and had held him on a $5,000 bond.
Hart has appeared in the movies Think Like a Man and Little Fockers. He has a number of films due out in 2013 and 2014, including Grudge Match with Robert De Niro and Alan Arkin, and About Last Night with Paula Patton.
