Kevin Costner and his estranged wife, Christine Baumgartner, are currently in the midst of a child support battle in Santa Barbara, California.
On Thursday, the estranged couple was captured arriving at the courthouse for a hearing to address Christine’s request for $175,057 per month in child support. Costner is currently paying her $129,000.
The two share three children: Cayden, 16,Hayes, 14, and Grace, 13. Christine’s lawyer defended her ask by stating that living lavishly is “in [the children’s] DNA at this point.”
The court filings further explained that Christine brought “the request in order to uphold Family Law principles and to assure that the parties’ three minor children will continue to have the benefit of the lifestyle that has been made possible by Kevin’s substantial earnings and wealth.”

While she does not believe that $175,057 per month will succeed in replicating the lifestyle that her ex-husband provided, it “will be sufficient to allow her to provide a lifestyle for the children which is relatively comparable.”
Should Christine’s wishes be granted, the order would be “made retroactive to July 1.”
