Kevin Costner Calls Wife’s Child Support Demands ‘Inflated’ & ‘Ludicrous,’ Says She Spends It On Plastic Surgery

Kevin Costner has claimed his soon-to-be ex, Christine Baumgartner, is asking for child support payments that exceed the necessities for their three teenage children. He called his estranged wife’s request for $248,000 per month “highly inflated and unsubstantiated.”

Baumgartner will also receive a settlement of $1.4 million from the couple’s prenup.

The court document filing said “guideline monthly child support based on Kevin’s gross cash flow available for support is $123,620.” Costner also said, “Providing the minor children with more than bare necessities does not require providing ludicrous extravagance designed to primarily benefit the supported parent.”

In a court filing earlier this month, Baumgartner stated that the $248,000 per month was less than the amount needed to maintain the children’s usual lifestyle. She also asked that Costner pay all of their children’s private school tuition as well as extracurricular activities and healthcare costs.

But the Yellowstone actor responded by claiming that Baumgartner takes 60% of the money for personal expenses, including a private trainer and plastic surgery.

Baumgartner asserted that the money would help her find a “suitable separate household” away from their home in Santa Barbara, which is estimated to cost $145 million. The child support cost of $248,000 a month is more than six times the $38,000 per month that Costner offered.

Despite a condition in their prenup that Costner claimed required Baumgartner to move out of their home within 30 days, Baumgartner’s lawyers said that the actor’s attempt to kick his wife and children out of their home is “all but nonexistent.”

The former couple is next scheduled to appear in court on July 5. Baumgartner assured Costner that she would move out by August 31 if they agreed on a child support plan by a July 12 hearing.
